Principal’s Message

Greetings Vail Vikings,

Welcome to Vail Highs School, Model Continuation School and WASC Accredited! My name is

Naomi Sotelo and am currently Principal of Vail Continuation High School. I have been a proud

employee of the Montebello Unified School District as a classified and certificated employee

since 1997 and am honored to be back serving the students, staff and community of Vail!

Our staff is committed to the Vail Way: attendance, grades and behavior, achieved through

academic and social emotional well-being of our students. Our goal is to make them college and

career ready, productive citizens of the global community and life-long learners. We ensure

that every student, including our English Language Learners, are focused on graduating high

school and have started making plans for their future. Our teachers receive ongoing

professional learning opportunities in the use of evidence-based instructional practices, English

Language Development (ELD), technology and 21st century skills to develop critical thinkers,

collaborators, communicators and creators. Teacher development is continuously occurring

through our Professional Learning Community/Data Teams. Our advisory period supports the

development of our goals.

We are proud of our ASB and all the wonderful activities that our students may participate in

such as prom, Grad Nite and our All-Stars after school program. Students are also able to

participate in college and tech school field trips.

Parent involvement in our school and the lives of our students is also of utmost importance.

Parents are the primary teachers of our students; and our mission is to work as a team for the

betterment of our students’ academic success. Our doors are always open to our parents. Vail

High School offers various forums for parent participation from campus tours, Back to School

Night, parent conferences, Open House, parent workshops, our parent committees: ELAC, SSC

and Community Schools participation.

As we continue to work as a team, please feel free to call, email or come by to speak with me at

[email protected] or 323-887-3005.

Sincerely,

Ms. Sotelo
